About Me
Here's a short summary of some personal information. Don't feel urged to read on.
Arts
I love playing the (electric) guitar. I enjoyed participating in various jazz workshops during school time. Our school's jazz band teacher organized several.
I believe, I never did thank for it before, so here it goes: "Thank you very much, Mr. Kocsis, for your enthusiasm and all the efforts! We (the jazz band's rhythm section) really appreciated it, although we might not have told you so or showed it otherwise."
I also enjoy playing the piano, but my skills on the six-string are way superior.
I did (very poor) amateur digital audio recordings of my self written music. (I plan to get a Mac do help me out on the hardware side and start that again.)
I started drawing in 2007. My drawings are still crappy, but I enjoy practicing. I really love to use coal for drawing. The lines seem soft (I don't know a better expression) to me.
Martial arts
I have been training martial arts since I was 7 years old. Back then I started with Karate, Taekwondo and Kick-Boxing. I then did 12 years of Ju-Jitsu, which I did not continue due to civil service and starting my studies, both far from the dojo I used to train at.
During my time as a student I started to train Bujinkan Dojo Budo Taijutsu, also simply known as Ninjutsu, in November 2003 at Bujinkan Dojo Reutlingen. I have been to Japan for training in 2006 and 2008. It was a great experience, and I hope to go there more often, if time and salary allow me to do so.
Computing
I got my first computer, a Commodore C64 at the tender age of 6. I graduated from Reutlingen University where I studied Information Technology and Automation.
My first installation of Linux was S.u.S.E. Linux 6.1 from an evaluation CD that shipped with the great "Linux for dummies" book from MIT press. I think, that was in 1999.
See the Projects for more computer related stuff.
Cultures, languages, history
I love learning about foreign cultures. In especially I like learning languages. I'm fluent in German, English and Polish. My Russian is a little bit rusty, but I was told, that I am not doing so bad. I am learning Japanese and it was sufficient to help me through the trip in 2006, but there is room for improvement... lots of room!
