!!A new toy
This evening's post is special, because it is dedicated to the computer on which I am writing it: An Apple MacBook.
Granted, it is an older one. The processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83 GHz (2 MB L2 Cache), it has 1 GB of RAM running at 667 MHz, and the OS is Mac OS X 10.4.11.
I'd like to thank my very nice coworker who works for the IT support of another department. He made it possible for me to test drive this MacBook. I consider buying one, but I am not sure, if I a Mac and I would be a good combination (because I am used to my Linux boxes and shells and so on).
!!! First impressions
* Boot time: Not amazing, but absolutely OK.
* WLAN access: No problem. I activated AirPort, selected my WLAN, entered the WPA passphrase and surfed the web.
* Dashboard looks nice
* I am so happy: I found an X terminal! :^)
Well then, we'll see how things develop. I am allowed to test drive it for the next two weeks. Afterwards I'll drop another news item and tell you my conclusions.
